In January 2020, five paintings by Charles K. Steiner went on permanent display at the Fort Smith Arkansas Regional Airport. The works, all of which come from Steiner's "Dep(art)ing Passengers" series, were previously featured in a solo exhibition at the same airport. Frequent travelers and airport staff alike have shared their enthusiasm for the paintings' return. This week, The Fort Report published a first look at the artworks' new home and discussed the future of art programs in regional airports with Steiner.
